A client came in a couple a days ago with his old computer “13 years old” looking to see what can be done to upgrade it. I looked over the computer, I’m like, “Um, sir, maybe you should think about getting a new pc.” He does not hear me – I think it’s selective hearing myself. He tells me that his cameras don’t work with his pc. He does have an old pc, but USB ports were added to it at some point in time. I start looking over the cameras; the batteries are junk. I put new batteries in the cameras, hook them up to his old pc, the pc does not see the cameras. The USB ports on the computer are toast. I’m like, “You need a new pc.” He finally says ok. I get him a really good deal on a basic pc and a wireless mouse\keyboard. I transfer all of his data and settings over to it, he takes the new pc home.

A couple of days later, he calls saying he can’t get online. I’m thinking it’s just a setting or something so I try to walk him through changing some settings. I start telling him what to click on and he’s like, “It not doing any thing!” I’m like wtf. After talking to him for about 10min, I find out he has been using the scroll wheel as the main mouse button as he calls it. He thought it was new – that it did every thing for him – all he had to do was push it. After about 5 min of trying to explain it to him, he finally got it. And he got the Internet Explorer open. The dial up window came up like it should, but he was looking passed it at the background window thats said “web page cant be displayed.” I’m going to end it with that because it’s …yeah.

Side note – where are these people coming from and where did they go to school?
