Yep, that’s probably the most lame title I could come up with. Some serious effort went into that.

Heh. Anyway, though, I’m pleased to say that WPC now makes extensive use of both browser and server caching, as well as compression via gzip for browsers that can handle it. Load for the Confessional is now down to less than two seconds (48kb) for a return visitor and just over five seconds (110kb) for a newcomer. That’s a significant improvement, if you recall what the frontpage was like initially.

And now that the javascript package is consolidated, smallered and cached (38.4kb – YES), item voting is now available within the archives.

HTML is valid, CSS is nicely wrapped up into a single HTTP request, most of the images are tied up in sprites, and the world is at peace … well, the world’s still screwed, but WPC is in slightly better shape. Woot.
